Intramural Competition League
(ABBAICL)
In an effort to teach young students the values of good sportsmanship and friendly competition; as well as finding a new and exciting way to instruct and reinforce the techniques of Tang Soo Do. Master Celona has come up with the idea of having an intramural competition league between students. This league will be extra-curricular, and will NOT replace the student's regular training.
Teams of students will compete against each other over a period of 9 weeks. The first 9 weeks will make up the regular season. The top four teams at the end of the season will compete in a Playoff Tournament. The Playoff Tournament will consist of the top four teams in single elimination matches during week 10. The last 2 teams will have 2 weeks to prepare for the Championship Round to take place on week 12.Week 11 will be a rest period for all the teams. The winner of the week 12 matchup will be crowned champion for that season. Teams will compete once every Tuesday or Thursday night. For a complete list of rules, click the link

For those who couldn't make it to last night's parents meeting, here is a quick run down on what was discussed:
Some of the features of the new website was discussed.
We will be closed on Saturday 2/20/10. Master and Mrs. Celona will be attending a special training seminar to learn how to better serve our members, and how to improve the overall quality and professionalism of the school.
We spoke about the Pilsung Martial Arts Association Championships. Date of the tournament is on Saturday April 10, at Sun Valley High School in Aston, PA Cost is $50 for the first 2 events $10 each additional event. Early registration is before 3/27/10, After 3/27/10 the cost is $60 first 2 events. $10 each additional event. Spectator admission is $5.
We are no longer holding "Buddy Days". From now on we will be holding "Buddy Week" Students may bring in a friend to train with them for a whole week. Buddies must have their parent fill out a permission slip. Buddy week is FREE and everyone will receive a special certificate upon completion. The first Buddy Week will be first week of March.
We are planning another Women's Self-Defense seminar for March 27th
We spoke about the importance of the students (especially senior students) lack of participation in our most recent fundraiser. We look at the school as belonging to the students, and not the staff. The students should take enough pride in the school to want to put an effort into helping us do the things that will help us make improvments. The leadership team should provide an example to everyone, not just on the dojang floor but also in school events and activities as well. Out of approximately 45 students.. 5 participated in the fundraiser.
On a related note, we stressed that anyone having difficulty paying tuition for membership MUST see Master or Mrs. Celona ASAP! If we need to make special arraigments, we must speak about it.
I'm not pleased with the lack of dedication from the Demo Team. Team members repeatedly showing up late, or not showing up at all. We chose Friday night practice as a way to avoid conflict with school, and homework time. My personal preference would be to hold practice on Saturday mornings, but many team members cannot commit to it. The team members and their parents who were present for the meeting took a vote, and we have thereby concluded that we should change the time of demo practice from 5pm to 5:30pm on Fridays. This change will take effect NEXT week. This week's practice will be at the normal time 5pm. With this change, we should solve the majority of lateness problems. Violations after this will be dealt with, being 15 minutes, or 30 minutes late for practice is not acceptable. 5:30pm should provide us with a better window to get to practice on time. Demo members who don't call ahead to inform me of a possible lateness will do 50 knuckle pushups. Members who don't show up at all from this point on without notifying me at least 6 hours ahead of time. WILL be cut from the team, no exceptions!!!
